Texas Judge Hears Challenge to Medical Abortion Access

A lawsuit filed by anti-abortion groups aims to ban mifepristone, a medication used to terminate pregnancies, which accounts for more than half of abortions in the US. During the hearing, US District Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk appeared sympathetic to the plaintiffs' arguments, which focused on the FDA's regulatory and approval process. If Kacsmaryk orders a ban on mifepristone, it would further hinder abortion access across the US. The judge is expected to make a decision soon.
