Growing Concern: Thousands Flee Nagorno-Karabakh Amid Severe Malnutrition and Ethnic Cleansing Fears

A senior US official has warned of a growing humanitarian crisis in Nagorno-Karabakh, as tens of thousands of people flee the breakaway region for Armenia. Many of those who have arrived are suffering from severe malnutrition, according to doctors on the scene. The region has been under blockade since December 2022, preventing the import of food, fuel, and medicine. The closure of the only road connecting Nagorno-Karabakh to Armenia has also hindered access for international organizations and foreign media. The US and the European Union have pledged humanitarian assistance, and the US has provided $11.5 million in aid.
