New York is preparing a center for asylum seekers after upstate counties declared emergencies due to the influx of migrants. The center will provide temporary housing, medical care, and legal services to asylum seekers. The move comes as the number of migrants crossing the US-Mexico border has surged in recent months, overwhelming border facilities and leading to a backlog of asylum cases.
