Texas Sends Migrants by Private Plane to Chicago, Creating Chaos at the Border

Texas has started flying migrants from the U.S.-Mexico border to Chicago, following the city's tougher stance on the buses that Governor Greg Abbott has been sending north since last year. The first flight carrying 120 migrants arrived in Chicago on Tuesday. Abbott's border security mission, known as Operation Lone Star, has relocated over 80,000 migrants, including 23,000 to Chicago. Concerns have been raised about the living conditions and medical care provided for asylum-seekers in Chicago, highlighted by the recent death of a 5-year-old boy. Chicago's city council has increased penalties on bus operators who don't comply with city regulations. Abbott's spokesperson stated that the decision to send migrants by plane was due to Chicago targeting migrant buses from Texas and not upholding its "Welcoming City" ordinance.
