A Biden administration official has admitted that China has been spying on the US from Cuba for years, despite denying a recent report that China and Cuba had reached an agreement to put an electronic eavesdropping facility in Cuba. The official said that China had upgraded its intelligence collection facilities in Cuba in 2019 and that the administration had inherited the problem. The White House, Pentagon and others had denied the Journal's reporting because they believed it was inaccurate to call the eavesdropping a new development. The Biden administration has been working to address the issue and engage governments that are considering hosting PRC bases.
