Israeli Ambassador Detained for Protesting Iranian President's UN Speech

Israel's ambassador to the United Nations, Gilad Erdan, was detained by security personnel after leaving the General Assembly Hall to protest a speech by Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi. Erdan held up a picture of an Iranian woman who was murdered for not wearing her hijab properly, calling for freedom for Iranian women. Raisi's presence at the U.N. drew protesters outside the hall. Erdan criticized the U.N. for giving a platform to a "vile murderer" and called on the international community to stop allowing murderers and anti-Semites to speak at the U.N. Raisi's speech blamed the United States for global instability.
