US Foils Plot to Assassinate Sikh Separatist on American Soil, Issues Warning to India

U.S. authorities have reportedly foiled a plot to kill a Sikh separatist in the United States and issued a warning to India, expressing concerns about the involvement of the Indian government. The plot was allegedly targeted at Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, a proponent of an independent Sikh homeland named Khalistan. It is unclear whether the protest to India or the intervention of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) led to the plot being abandoned. The U.S. has also filed a sealed indictment against at least one suspect in a New York district court. This development comes after Canada accused Indian agents of being involved in the murder of a Sikh separatist leader in June. India has rejected these allegations.
