"US Takes Lead in Training Ukrainian F-16 Pilots, Bolsters Long-Term Air Defense Capabilities"

The United States, along with the Netherlands and Denmark, will lead a coalition of countries in training Ukrainian pilots and crews to operate and maintain F-16 fighter jets. This initiative is part of smaller "capability coalitions" formed by NATO allies to provide specific areas of support for Ukraine. In addition to fighter jet training, the US will also participate in armor and artillery programs, while a naval group will be established. The Netherlands and Denmark have been granted approval to donate their F-16s to Ukraine once pilot training is complete, with the first deliveries expected in 2024.
