Supreme Court Denies Derek Chauvin's Appeal in George Floyd Murder Case

The Supreme Court has rejected an appeal from former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin, upholding his conviction for the murder of George Floyd. Chauvin's lawyers had argued for a change of venue and jury sequestration, claiming that pretrial publicity and the threat of violence compromised his right to a fair trial. The Minnesota Court of Appeals had previously affirmed Chauvin's conviction and denied his request for a new trial. Chauvin is currently serving a 22 ½-year sentence and is also seeking to overturn his federal conviction for violating Floyd's civil rights.
