Supreme Court Upholds Washington State Ban on Conversion Therapy, a Victory for LGBTQ Rights

The US Supreme Court has declined to hear an appeal regarding the enforcement of laws banning conversion therapy for LGBTQ+ children, upholding Washington state's ban. The court's decision comes as efforts to limit the rights of LGBTQ+ kids have spread across the country. The dissenting conservative justices argued that the court should have taken up the case, as licensed counselors may face punishment for expressing opinions contrary to the state-approved view on minors with gender dysphoria. About half of the states in the US currently prohibit conversion therapy.
