"Controversial Arrests: CMPD Officer Suspended and Body Cam Video Released"
TL;DR
A Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police officer, Vincent Pistone, has been suspended for 40 hours and will undergo additional training after an internal investigation found that 14 of the 17 strikes he delivered to a woman, Christina Pierre, during an arrest were not justified. The investigation stemmed from a controversial arrest last month, and body-worn camera footage released by CMPD shows officers detaining Pierre and another individual without providing a reason. The charges against Pierre and the man were dropped by the district attorney, and witnesses seen on the footage criticized the officers' actions as excessive.
