Federal Judge Strikes Down Tennessee's Anti-Drag Law as Unconstitutional

A federal judge in Tennessee has ruled that a law aimed at restricting drag shows is unconstitutional, stating that it is overly broad and violates the First Amendment. The law, which was passed earlier this year with the goal of protecting children, had been on hold after a theater company challenged it in court. Although only Shelby County is explicitly prevented from enforcing the law, the decision could affect enforcement of the law and lead to challenges elsewhere in Tennessee. The attorney general of Tennessee has said he expects to appeal the decision.
