Legal battles over death penalty in Missouri continue.

A federal appeals court has vacated a stay of execution for Missouri inmate Michael Tisius, who was sentenced to death for killing two jailers during a failed escape attempt. Tisius' attorneys argued that a juror in his 2010 resentencing was illiterate, but the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit said the lower court did not have jurisdiction to order the stay. Tisius' defense team plans to appeal the decision, while advocates have asked Republican Gov. Mike Parson to grant Tisius clemency.
