Supreme Court rules in favor of inmate's death by nitrogen hypoxia.

The US Supreme Court has lifted the stay on the execution of Alabama death row inmate Kenneth Eugene Smith, who survived a botched lethal injection last year and wants to be put to death by nitrogen hypoxia instead. Smith's lawsuit remains pending, and the state's death warrant has expired. Lethal injection is the primary method of execution in Alabama, but the condemned may request electrocution or nitrogen hypoxia. The latter method was approved for use in 2018 but has not been tried before.
