The Moreno Valley Unified School District has reached a $27 million settlement in a wrongful-death lawsuit filed by the legal guardians of 13-year-old Diego Stolz, who was fatally beaten by two fellow students at Landmark Middle School in 2019. The settlement is the largest bullying settlement in the United States. The lawsuit alleged that the school district failed to take action after being informed of the bullying incidents. The two 14-year-old boys responsible for Stolz's death pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and assault charges and were ordered to undergo anger management therapy.
