Madison nonprofit chief Michael Johnson dies at 50 amid community tribute

Michael Johnson, the president and CEO of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Dane County, died unexpectedly at age 50 in Madison. A longtime community leader who helped grow the organization and guided it through the COVID-19 pandemic (after a brief 2018 stint as CEO of United Way of Cincinnati), Johnson’s passing was announced by the club. Former Chief Education and People Officer Taylor Jackson will serve as interim president and CEO, while leaders and officials remember his advocacy for Dane County youth and plan to honor his legacy.
