Madison officer shoots and kills man after knife confrontation; officer injured

A Madison police officer shot and killed a man who produced a large fixed-blade knife during an attempted arrest in the Marquette neighborhood; the officer was injured by the knife, a Taser was deployed unsuccessfully, four officers were involved and placed on leave, and the Wisconsin Department of Justice’s Division of Criminal Investigation is handling the inquiry as streets were closed and protests formed.
