NYC Unveils Mobile Public Bathrooms With 10-Minute Time Limit

New York City is launching a year-long pilot of 17 mobile, self-contained public bathrooms across all five boroughs, operated by Throne Labs. The units don’t require water, sewer, or power connections and are accessible via text, QR code, app, or tap card. They include a sink, flush toilet, climate control, and a baby-changing station, with a strict 10-minute usage limit after which the door opens automatically. If the pilot proves successful, more bathrooms will be deployed to improve access to public facilities citywide.
