Portland's Rose Festival consolidates parades into one evening amid budget pressures
TL;DR
Portland's Rose Festival will merge the Grand Floral Parade and the Starlight Parade into one evening due to budget constraints, a move that organizers say preserves the festival amid rising costs and fewer sponsors. The changed format draws mixed feelings from longtime participants who fear a smaller, single-night event, while Fleet Week activities—including ship tours that require ID—continue alongside the festival.
