Rising Concerns as Second Drill Sergeant Found Dead at Fort Jackson Army Base

The U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Division is investigating the death of Staff Sgt. Zachary L. Melton, a drill sergeant at Fort Jackson, who was found dead in his vehicle after failing to report for work. This is the second drill sergeant found dead at Fort Jackson this month, with no apparent signs of foul play in either case. Military chaplains and behavioral health personnel are providing support to the unit.
