Devastating Tornado Strikes Rocky Mount, NC, Leaving Destruction in its Wake

A tornado touched down in Nash County, North Carolina, causing extensive damage and closing a section of Interstate 95. Trees were down, houses were damaged, and power was knocked out in the areas between Castalia, Whitakers, and Leggett. The Pfizer facility in Rocky Mount sustained major damage, with part of the roof torn off. All lanes of I-95 near Rocky Mount were closed due to obstructions, and Duke Energy reported over 1,000 power outages in the area. No serious injuries have been reported so far. State personnel are assisting with road clearance and other support.
