"Tropical Storm Idalia Prompts Florida State of Emergency"

Florida has declared a state of emergency for 33 counties as Tropical Storm Idalia is expected to strengthen into a hurricane over the eastern Gulf of Mexico. There is an increasing risk of life-threatening storm surge, heavy rainfall, and hurricane-force winds along portions of the west coast of Florida and the Florida Panhandle. Residents are advised to monitor updates, have a hurricane plan in place, and follow advice from local officials. No watches or warnings have been issued for the continental United States yet.
