Abortion Rights Remain Divisive Issue Among American Voters

A new CBS News poll shows that most Americans believe that overturning Roe v. Wade has been bad for the country, with half saying that abortion access has become more restricted than expected. Women, particularly Democratic women, feel that the decision has been an infringement on women's rights and a threat to women's health. However, majorities of Republicans, conservatives, and evangelicals feel that the overturn of Roe has been good for the country, primarily because they believe the unborn are being protected and conservative values are being recognized. The poll also found that views on abortion access are related to where people live, with those in states with restrictive abortion policies feeling that access has become more difficult.
