"Adam Schiff and Steve Garvey Secure Spots on California Senate Ballot"
TL;DR
Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff and Republican Steve Garvey have advanced to the general election in California's Senate race, shutting out fellow Democrats Katie Porter and Barbara Lee. Schiff, known for his role in battling former President Donald Trump, will face Garvey in the fall, avoiding a contentious intraparty fight. The race grew heated as Schiff sought to elevate Garvey and secure his spot in the general election. Democrats are favored to win in the solidly blue state, and Lee expressed pride in the grassroots coalition her campaign built.
