Bannon's Appeal to Overturn Contempt Conviction Faces Skeptical Court

Steve Bannon, former White House chief strategist and ally of Donald Trump, faced a skeptical federal appeals court as he sought to overturn his conviction for contempt of Congress charges related to his refusal to comply with a subpoena regarding the January 6th attack on the U.S. Capitol. Bannon argued that he did not receive a fair trial and that his lawyer advised him he did not have to comply with the subpoena due to executive privilege. However, the court did not appear convinced by his arguments. Bannon was sentenced to four months in prison and a fine, but remains free pending his appeal.
