Biden Addresses Howard University Graduates on US History and White Supremacy

President Joe Biden addressed the graduates of Howard University, a historically Black university, and acknowledged that American history "has not always been a fairy tale" and that "racism has long torn us apart." While speaking, several students silently protested by holding handmade signs against white supremacist violence. Biden urged the graduates to stand up for the best in them and choose love over hate, unity over disunion, and progress over retreat. He was awarded an honorary Doctor of Letters degree and is scheduled to address graduates of the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado on June 1.
