Biden denies U.S. involvement in Russian mutiny

President Biden stated that the US and its allies were not involved in the Wagner mercenary group's brief uprising in Russia, calling it "part of a struggle within the Russian system." The rebellion led by Wagner chief Yevgeny Prigozhin targeted Russia's military leaders, accusing them of botching the war in Ukraine and criticizing Russian President Vladimir Putin. The US and its allies coordinated a response to the rebellion and made it clear to Moscow that they were not involved. The US will continue to support Ukraine "no matter what happened in Russia."
