President Joe Biden called on Republicans to raise the debt ceiling in a speech at SUNY Westchester Community College in Valhalla. The looming deadline to raise the debt ceiling is June 1. Biden and Democrats are at a stalemate with Republican leaders who say they won't increase the limit unless Democrats cut back on spending. The president did not touch on the immigration issue, which is a pressing matter in the Hudson Valley as leaders are battling with New York City Mayor Eric Adams over an influx of migrants he wants to house at hotels in both Orange and Rockland counties.
