Senators narrowly confirmed Todd Blanche, a longtime prosecutor who helped shape the DOJ during the Trump era, as attorney general by a 50–49 vote (Collins and Murkowski joined Democrats in opposing). Blanche is expected to push a hardline agenda—immigration enforcement, challenges to what the administration calls weaponization of the DOJ—and has long led day-to-day DOJ operations from the deputy AG position, including handling the Epstein files aftermath.
