The bill was originally proposed to require courts to consider whether each parent was gender-affirming of the child in custody cases. Critics claim that the bill could open the door to legally declare non-affirmation of a child's gender identity as child abuse across the board. The bill will be discussed in a state senate hearing on June 13.
