Controversial Bills Passed in Florida Legislature.

The Florida legislature passed a bill making it a crime for transgender people to use public restrooms that align with their gender identity. The bill, known as the “Safety in Private Spaces Act,” could charge individuals with a second-degree misdemeanor. The legislation now heads to Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ desk, where it is expected to receive his signature. LGBTQ civil rights organization, the Human Rights Campaign, condemned the move as “a pernicious, degrading, and systematic attempt to dehumanize one of our most marginalized communities.”
