Cuban detainee dies at Georgia ICE facility amid suicide investigation

A 33-year-old Cuban immigrant, Denny Adán González, died at CoreCivic's Stewart detention center in Lumpkin, Georgia; authorities say suicide is suspected and the case is under investigation. The death is ICE’s 18th detainee death in 2026 and the fourth suicide at Stewart. González had been deported in 2020, re-entered the U.S. in 2022, and was detained in January after a December arrest for alleged assault and domestic violence; DHS did not comment.
