Democrats Expand Red to Blue Recruiting with Five New Candidates
TL;DR
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee added five candidates to its Red to Blue top-recruit list, including three military veterans, bringing the total to 37. Leela Gray (retired Army brigadier general) is challenging Rep. Anna Paulina Luna in Florida; Zach Dembo (former Navy JAG) in Kentucky; Nancy Lacore (former Navy admiral) in South Carolina; Matt Dunlap (Maine state auditor) in Maine’s 2nd District; and Tom Perriello (former congressman) in Virginia’s 5th. Democrats are banking on veteran credentials to flip seats in 2026 as the Iran war continues, with these districts identified as competitive or vulnerable by observers.
