DeSantis Blocks Florida Republicans' Attempt to Fund Trump's Legal Bills

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis rejected a bid from fellow Republicans to use taxpayer money to fund Donald Trump's legal fees, shutting down a proposed "Freedom Fighters Fund" backed by Florida's chief financial officer, Jimmy Patronis. The bill, titled "Grants for Victims of Political Discrimination," aimed to provide financial support to Florida residents running for President who face legal challenges. State Sen. Ileana Garcia, who filed the bill, later withdrew her support after DeSantis publicly opposed it, citing the reduced primary competition and the remaining frontrunner's ability to handle himself. DeSantis recently ended his own presidential campaign and endorsed Trump, who in turn promised to stop calling him "DeSanctimonious" as a gesture of mercy.
