DeSantis Claims Immunity in Disney Lawsuit

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has asked a federal court to dismiss a lawsuit filed by The Walt Disney Co. against him, claiming illegal retaliation over a political dispute. DeSantis' attorneys argue that he and the secretary of Florida's Department of Economic Opportunity are "immune" from the suit and that DeSantis is entitled to legislative immunity. Disney sued DeSantis and other Florida officials over a campaign that the company alleged was "patently retaliatory, patently anti-business, and patently unconstitutional" after the company publicly criticized the Parental Rights in Education Law.
