DOJ charges 16 in multi-state noncitizen voting and election-crime cases

DOJ charges 16 people across Texas, Georgia, Idaho and five other states with illegal voting, voter registration and related election crimes, including eight noncitizens in Texas and cases alleging noncitizens voted in federal elections or lied about citizenship; examples include Monica Carzoli and Analiea Eccles. The crackdown is part of a broad enforcement effort, with DHS reporting 1,620 open cases and 151 arrests, and more than 300,000 cases under review; charges are allegations and defendants are presumed innocent.
