Election Day: Voters Cast Ballots in Governor's Race and More

Thousands of Louisiana voters are expected to head to the polls for election day, with multiple statewide races on the ballot including the race for governor, lieutenant governor, secretary of state, attorney general, and state treasurer. Republican candidates for governor include state Sen. Sharon Hewitt, Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry, state Treasurer John Schroder, Stephen Waguespack, and three others, while former state Transportation Secretary Shawn Wilson is the major Democratic candidate. 33 Louisiana parishes have legislature races and local propositions on the ballot, and 27 parishes have legislature races but no local propositions. Voters are encouraged to preview their ballots ahead of time and bring photo identification to the polls.
