Florida GOP lawmakers have advanced a new abortion ban that would make it a crime to provide an abortion past six weeks, with some exceptions. The proposal would only go into effect if the current law is upheld. There would be an exception to save the woman's life and exceptions in the case of pregnancy caused by rape or incest until 15 weeks of pregnancy. Opponents said that by the time a woman finds out she's pregnant, it's either too late to get an abortion or there's too little time to arrange one. The bill requires so-called "abortion pills" to be dispensed in-person by a physician and prohibits the use of telehealth for abortions – including medication abortions.
