More than 60 House Republicans, led by Matt Gaetz, have introduced a resolution denying that Donald Trump engaged in an insurrection on January 6, just before the Supreme Court hears arguments in a case from Colorado where Trump was disqualified from the ballot for engaging in insurrection. They claim that January 6 was not an insurrection and criticize the media for spreading lies about the events. The resolution uses language similar to the 14th Amendment and challenges the Colorado Supreme Court's decision. The Department of Justice reports that about 140 police officers were injured during the Capitol riot, and at least five people died.
