House rejects GOP attempt to censure Adam Schiff over Trump-Russia 'lies'

The House rejected a GOP-backed effort to censure Rep. Adam Schiff over his role in the House investigation into Russia and the 2016 Trump campaign. Almost two dozen Republican lawmakers joined Democrats in tabling the measure, effectively blocking a vote on the censure resolution itself. Schiff called the resolution "political payback" and said it was an attempt to intimidate and silence him. The resolution required a simple majority to pass, and had it been successful, Schiff would have been ordered to stand on the House floor to receive a verbal rebuke.
