Insights from Des Moines Mayoral Debate and City Council Candidates
TL;DR
Three candidates for Des Moines mayor participated in a televised debate, discussing topics such as climate change, infrastructure needs, and marginalized community support. Candidate Chris W. Von Arx expressed skepticism about climate change, while Connie Boesen and Josh Mandelbaum emphasized the importance of addressing it. Boesen and Mandelbaum disagreed on the city's role in safeguarding reproductive care. The candidates largely stayed in their lanes during the debate, with moderators asking follow-up questions to drive the discussion.
