IRS Official Expresses Frustration Over DOJ's Failure to Prosecute Hunter Biden's Tax Returns

A director within the IRS' criminal investigations division expressed frustration that the Justice Department did not bring charges against Hunter Biden for failing to pay federal income tax for 2014 and 2015. The director, Michael Batdorf, confirmed that the IRS recommended at least one felony count for those tax years but was surprised when prosecutors decided not to pursue charges. Batdorf also defended IRS whistleblower Gary Shapley, who claimed that significant felony charges were left off the table in the investigation into Hunter Biden. Shapley alleged that Hunter Biden should have been charged with tax evasion for 2014 and for filing false tax returns for 2018 and 2019.
