TL;DR
JD Vance, a relatively unknown Ohio senator with less than two years in Congress, has been chosen as Donald Trump's vice-presidential pick for the 2024 election. Despite his limited political experience and low recognition even within his own party, Trump values Vance's media presence and personal story. Critics from both parties question Vance's qualifications and potential impact on the campaign, while Trump hopes Vance's background and chemistry with him will appeal to Midwestern voters.
