Kentucky's Anti-Trans Bill Sparks Protests and Controversy

Republican lawmakers in Kentucky have overridden the Democratic governor's veto of a bill that restricts access to gender-affirming health care and limits the bathrooms transgender young people can use. The bill will also ban gender-affirming care for minors, including puberty blockers and hormones, and gender reassignment surgery for anyone under 18. Schools will not be allowed to discuss sexual orientation or gender identity with students of any age, and teachers can refuse to refer to transgender students by their preferred pronouns. The American Civil Liberties Union of Kentucky plans to challenge the law in court.
