Mayor of Watertown Takes Action Against Council Member for Ethics Violation

Watertown's Mayor Jeff Smith plans to file an ethics violation against Council Member Cliff Olney for repeatedly sharing information discussed in executive sessions with the media and lawyers who do not represent the city. Olney, however, argues that the mayor is a hypocrite and claims the complaint is more about the upcoming mayoral race than ethics. The mayor also alludes to "extremely disturbing" contents in closing documents related to the city's purchase of a golf course, which he believes could be seen as a cover-up. The ethics complaint is expected to be officially filed by Wednesday.
