"Michigan's Fake GOP Electors Face State Charges in Court"

Sixteen Michigan Republicans who served as fake electors in the 2020 election have pleaded not guilty to state charges related to their involvement in a Trump-backed plot to subvert the Electoral College. The defendants, including current and former GOP officials, were charged with eight state felonies, including forgery and conspiracy. Some defense attorneys plan to challenge the prosecution and get the charges dropped. The next hearing is scheduled for August 18. The Justice Department has also indicted former President Donald Trump on federal charges related to the same plot.
