Minnesota House Poised to Pass Recreational Marijuana Bill

The Minnesota House is set to pass a bill legalizing recreational marijuana for adults 21 and older, creating a state-regulated industry and expunging low-level cannabis convictions. The bill would establish a new Office of Cannabis Management to oversee the industry and require business licenses for growing, manufacturing, or selling marijuana. The legislation would also impose an 8% gross receipts tax on both hemp and marijuana, in addition to state and local sales taxes. If signed into law, the regulated industry would take at least a year to establish.
