"Minnesota Rep. Tom Emmer's Pursuit of House Speaker Nomination Gains Momentum"
TL;DR
Minnesota Rep. Tom Emmer is reportedly making calls in pursuit of a nomination for the position of U.S. House speaker, following the removal of Rep. Kevin McCarthy. The House Republican caucus has rejected bids from Reps. Steve Scalise and Jim Jordan, leaving a leadership vacuum. Emmer had initially expressed interest in becoming House Majority Leader but is now seeking the speakership. In the interim, Rep. Patrick McHenry is serving as speaker pro tempore. Other Republicans, including Reps. Kevin Hern and Jack Bergman, are also considering running for the position.
