"Montana GOP Rep. Matt Rosendale Retires Amid Defamatory Rumors"
TL;DR
GOP Rep. Matt Rosendale of Montana has dropped his re-election bid for a third term, citing "false and defamatory rumors" and a death threat. This comes after he previously ended a Senate campaign due to a lack of resources and former President Donald Trump endorsing his opponent. Rosendale's decision has led to a crowded field for the House seat, with former Rep. Denny Rehberg among the candidates. Rosendale, a member of the conservative Freedom Caucus, has caused friction within the GOP leadership and faced challenges from within the party.
