Montana House in Turmoil Over Transgender Lawmaker's Rights.

The Montana House of Representatives canceled a session amid a standoff with Representative Zooey Zephyr, the state's only transgender lawmaker. Republican leaders refused to let Zephyr speak until she apologized for comments made during a House debate. Several of her supporters were arrested during a protest. Montana is one of several states where Republican lawmakers have sought this year to prohibit hormone treatments and surgical care for transgender minors.
